On the eastern entrance of the Wachau Valley Petra Unger cultivates 11 ha of vineyards. Most of them are situated on a high loess-plateau beneath the monastery of Göttweig, on the southern bank of the Danube. The Riesling-vines grow on steep south-facing stone-terasses on the northern side on pure primary rock soils.
The main varieties are Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Zweigelt and Pinot Noir.

Her approach of winemaking is best described as "handmade wines". Every vine is treated with outmost attention and care. The grapes are picked in several sessions and are pressed gently. The wines are fermented and matured with a miminum of interference. This allows the wines express their terroir -spezific characteristics.

One of her passions is the cultivation of old vines. The Riesling of "Gaisberg"(premium site), which was planted in 1964, and the 50 year old vines of the Grüner Veltliner "Oberfeld"(premium site)". Their vines produce exceptionally rich and elegant wines.
